Top Favourite Musicals at the London Theatres

This is the season to head for the London theatre district and a splendid offering of the best in musicals. There is something to satisfy every fan of every genre. Let's begin with The Lion King at the Piccadilly where the Disney classic comes to life on stage once again. The music of Elton John also comes to life in Billy Elliot, which tells the story of a boy and his love for ballet. At Her Majesty's Theatre, the epic production of The Phantom of the Opera still terrorizes the Paris Opera and thrills the fans, who are also thrilled by the tribute to the late Michael Jackson, called Thriller - Live.

The witches are all too real in Wicked, playing at the Apollo Victoria. At the Prince of Wales, audiences tap their feet and clap their hands for Mamma Mia! The movie was a smash and the musical is even better, say the critics. Another movie turned stage hit is Shrek the Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane where audiences warm to the friendly green giant. For a great mix of drums, music, and modern dance, there is Stomp, and for a step back into time, there is the Victor Hugo masterpiece that has been transformed into the timeless Les Miserables.

The fans who prefers the modern touch should go to the Prince Edward theatre, which is presenting the harmony group known as Jersey Boys. Another winner and one of the most popular of musicals on the London scene is We Will Rock You, which takes place in a world of the future where music is banned. Also, another musical that is highly popular is Matilda, based on Ronald Dahl's classic children's book.

When the musical comedy fan has exhausted all that the London theatre district has to offer, there is still another special one on the way. Coming to London in the spring of 2013 is The Book of Mormon, the Broadway sensation and winner of nine Tony awards. It tells of two young Mormon missionaries and their mission in Uganda. If you’re a fan of musicals and know that you will be in London in the spring, you can find
Book of Mormon tickets on sale right now!
